“Necessity Is The Mother of Invention”
A Family’s Story
We’re not a big company. We’re not industry experts or business tycoons.
We’re just a family who saw a problem and decided to try to fix it.
This started in our home. Just us, figuring things out as we went.
Our son is a goalie. A dek hockey goalie. And a damn good one, too. Like any parents, we want to give him every opportunity to succeed. But when it came to sliders, we kept running into the same problem. They were expensive, tough to get, and honestly… not that great.
So we figured, why not try to make something better ourselves?
What started as late nights with a 3D printer turned into something a lot bigger than we expected. Not just tinkering, but actually trying to solve a problem we knew other players and parents were dealing with too.
We focused on making sliders that were lighter, faster, and actually helped performance. And just as important, something that didn’t feel overpriced just to play the game.
There were a lot of prototypes. A lot of trial and error. A lot of “let’s take these to the rink and see what happens.” But eventually, we landed on something we were really proud of.
Somewhere along the way, it stopped being just an idea and became something our whole family was building together. Designing, testing, refining, and bringing it to life piece by piece.
That’s what Otter Belly is.
A family-built brand, started at home, made for families like ours. We know what it’s like to invest in this sport. We know how frustrating it is when the gear doesn’t live up to it.
So we made something we believe in.
And now we’re sharing it with you.
